Jeremy's Eagle Scout Quilt

Especially made for our son, Jeremy, who made Eagle Scout this September. I had saved for the last 11 years, his neckerchiefs from his Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts with the intent of making a quilt for him when he made Eagle Scout. As I started thinking and designing this quilt, it evolved several times and ultimately to what is here now. A combination of neckerchiefs and pieced embroidered words from the Scout Law along with a center square of an embroidered Eagle over top of the Eagle neckerchief. The embroidered words were done on his father's old Bellsouth shirts that he could not wear after they were changed to AT&T. This quilt was made entirely when Jeremy was not home, and put away upon his returning with not a trace of fabric or thread anywhere. To my knowledge, he knew nothing of it. This quilt has special meaning and represents over 11 years of his and our commitment to Scouts. We are very proud of him for sticking it out and finally making the rank of Eagle Scout, Boy Scouts of America's highest award. It was quilted by Leon Hopkins in a swirl and star pattern. It got 2nd place at the Coastal Carolina Fair, 2008. ORIGINAL QUILT DESIGN BY MARCY KANAPAUX; FOR USE BY PERMISSION ONLY.

Momma's Sea of Blue

A pretty diagonal pattern afghan done in varigated blues, dark blue and cream for my Parents Motor home. Quite a large afghan and rather heavy, too. Momma wanted me to put this in the fair this year. And surprise of surprises, it got a 1st place and a 2nd place Best of Show at the Coastal Carolina Fair, 2008.

Canoe Country

This is another jelly roll quilt from the book "Strip Happy" that our Loose Threads quilt club did this year. It is the jelly roll Canoe Country fabric and only takes one to make this adorable lap quilt. I quilted this one doing a free motion wavy line that is super simple and quick. This one got 1st place at the Coastal Carolina Fair, 2008.

Chelsea Sampler

This was a sampler quilt done in our Loose Threads quilt club from the Book "Strip Happy"; done with the Chelsea Botique line of jelly roll. It took 2 jelly rolls to complete and definitely is a weekend pieced quilt top. Fun, Fun. It was quilted by Leon Hopkins with a vine pattern. It got 2nd place at the Coastal Carolina Fair, 2008.

Jeremy's t-shirt quilt

A t-shirt quilt made from my son, Jeremy's, t-shirts from various years and most represent t-shirts given to him by my parents, sister, and us. This was a class taught by Ed O'Leary at People, Places & Quilts in Summerville, SC. What a super fun and quick quilt. It was quilted by Leon Hopkins with a basic swirl pattern. It won 1st place at the Coastal Carolina Fair, 2008.

Sudoku

This was another wall hanging done thru our Loose Threads quilt club and was rather fun. Take 9 fabrics, assign each a number, then position them according to an actual Sudoku answer key and you have a cool wallhanging. This one received 1st place at the Coastal Carolina Fair in 2007.

Vases

This vases wallhanging was done through our Loose Threads quilt club and was very fun to make. However, I cheated a bit and did my applique by iron-on and not the traditional way. I had too many irons in the fire when I did this one and did it the 'quick' way. Besides, it is a wallhanging and didn't really need all the hand applique work. :) It won 1st place at the Coastal Carolina Fair, 2007.

Vintage Sampler

My first sampler quilt done thru our Vintage Quilt Club from vintage reproduction fabrics. I slightly altered mine from the original pattern, but am quite pleased with how it turned out. I even quilted this one myself. Fun, Fun. It got 2nd place at the Coastal Carolina Fair, 2008.

Miss Maggie

Another rail fence pattern. It is so easy, I enjoy making it again, this time in pinks and browns for my sweet Maggie.

Miss Maggie

For my sweet Maggie - pinks, white, lavender and green. This one made up rather nicely and is one of my favorite. My hope is that Miss Maggie will keep warm under this quilt that I made especially for her.

Kanapaux hands

It is always fun to immortalize your children's hand prints for your posterity. Here are my nieces and nephews: Cheynne, Ashley, Emily and Nathan from 2001.

Melanie B

Well, this was an experiment that didn't turn out too bad. Fine baby pink check with a larger check print. It made an adorable baby blanket for our neighbor, Melanie.

Look and Learn

This was made from the Look and Learn fabric line from the jelly roll. Very quick log cabin with the jelly roll. I had this one pieced in two days, and even quilted this one myself, what fun. It is remeniscent of the Dick and Jane book series I grew up with. It won 1st place at the Coastal Carolina Fair, 2008.

Baby Ragsdale

Another quick baby quilt from the rail fence pattern. 6 fat quarters and you can make this quilt top in a day, binding and quilting, too. This one was for my friend Janet's baby girl in 2007.

Lime Again

Lime was definitely the color last year. I just adored these fabrics and the Stack and Whack pattern was perfect. It was for 8 placemats, but I took 4 of them and made a table runner and all of them have the material in them so that hot pots can be sat on them and it won't hurt the table. These got 1st place at the Coastal Carolina Fair in 2007.

Lime Pansies

Lime green center with pretty pansies appliqued onto the black border. This was my second attempt at applique on my sewing machine and I love how it turned out, even the grid quilting in the center. This one got 2nd place at the Coastal Carolina Fair in 2007. Pretty Cool.

Hearts A Flutter

A quick Valentine's wall hanging this Hearts A Flutter was to do. It was made from a 5" charm pack with adding one fabric and binding and backing. Very quick and fun. It adorns my wall at work. This one got 1st place at the Coastal Carolina Fair in 2007.

Boo Hoo

What a fun Churn Dash this one was to do. And with all of the different Halloween fabrics. It is a bit busy, but fun, too, and just right for a Halloween wall hanging. This one got 2nd place at the Coastal Carolina Fair in 2007.

Dresden Plate

This Dresden Plate was just a test for the applique which I had never done before on my Bernina. This one turned out quite well and was made from a 5" charm pack for the Dresden, binding and backing. I actually enjoyed this one so well, that I did a table runner for the 4th of July and one day will make a queen size quilt with this pattern.

Duck Duck Goose

Saw this panel and just couldn't resist it. Duck Duck Goose after an old childhood game. This one is kinda hanging out in the sewing room until I decide whom shall receive it.

Heather

For Heather's adorable baby Jordan. Little did I know that blue was her color and that she preferred a quilt over an afghan. A fun log cabin with these colors and off center grid quilting.

Dak a Doo 2

For Dakota's baby doll cradle - mattress and cover, matching pillow and crocheted baby doll blanket. Grampy fixed up the cradle for her and asked if I could make a blanket for it. This is what I came up with and I do believe Miss Dakota loved it.

Thimbleberries

Sample 5" squares of Thimbleberries fabrics-Light & Bright and Warm & Cozy I just threw on the floor and then arranged for this lovely table runner for our living room. Out of the box for me, as I always have a pattern of some sort in my quilts. This was haphazardly arranged. But I love how it turned out.

Leslie P

Miss Leslie's favorite colors are Pink, Lime Green and Yellow. I just happened to have these squares in my stash and decided to put them together like this for her. I would love to have seen her face when it arrived in the mail.

Kennedy

Miss Kennedy is a beautifully peaceful looking child. She looks as though she is always contemplating her surroundings. Her sister is Miss Dakota. Here is a match to Miss Dakota's handprints for Mommy to hand on the wall.

Clemson

Clemson, woo hoo, Purple and Orange.
This Turning 20 quilt pattern in the Clemson University colors was made for a teacher friend of our neighbor, Denise. The teacher is going to Russia to teach at a DOD school and we came up with this idea to make her a quilt from her favorite school, besides it gets COLD in them thar hills of Russia. I hope she gets many warm nights out of this quilt.

4" Cathedral Window

Cathedral Window table runner hanging at the 2007 Coast Carolina Fair with First place ribbon. This fabric was from the Serendipity/Piece o' cake collection. Remeniscent of days gone by. The 'windows' are 4". The Cathedral Window quilt pattern is what I was first taught when I began quilting. My wonderful Aunt Rachel taught me how. I miss her.

Kennedy

Fun log cabin baby quilt for Miss Kennedy, Miss Dakota's baby sister.

Allison Keller

A cute and simple rail fence quilt pattern in antique looking fabrics in soft roses and creams. Made especially for Allison Keller of Y102.5 for her wonderful new addition to her family, a baby girl.

Dak a Doo

Dakadoo is what she is called, but little Miss Dakota is a beautiful little girl and Mommy's princess. Immortalized here forever are her precious hand prints. This small wall hanging got Honorable Mention at the 2006 Coastal Carolina Fair.

Bright Logs

Rich greens and purples and soft greens and yellows make this wonderful log cabin wall hanging. It got third place at the Coastal Carolina Fair in 2006. It now has a place on my office wall at work. Quite a fun pattern to do.

Starburst

This is a star burst pattern from Jennie Rayment from England. I saw a demonstration on TV one morning and just had to make it. What fun! Folding the fabric to make the shapes and such. Originally done by Jennie in yellow, orange and green. I like her colors, but my favorite are lavender, blue and pink...thus my star burst. It won 1st place at the Coastal Carolina Fair, 2008.

Motorcycles/Cars/Flames

This is another Turning 20 quilt pattern using motorcycle, cars, flames, checks and other bright fabrics for a client of ours who is in the hospital. This is the front side of the John Deere back. I asked his family to sign 4 white blocks of fabric to incorporate into the quilt to make this a really personal quilt for him.

John Deere

This is my adaptation of the Turning 20 quilt pattern using John Deere 4 1/2" squares to make the centers of the 10" squares bordered by a mottled batik and flanked by solid batiks in yellow and green. The border is alternating yellow and green batiks. This is the back side of the motorcycle/car quilt for a client who has been in the hospital for over 2 years. I wanted him to have something from 'home' of something he likes.

Charleston IV-Wedding Gift

Just got finished putting the borders on the Charleston IV collection of fabrics into the Turning 20 quilt pattern. Cut it out on Saturday, sewed the blocks together on Sunday and finished the rows and border on Monday. The backing is pieced and ready to go to the quilter. This is a special quilt. It is a wedding shower/wedding gift for a friend's daughter and soon to be husband. I hope they enjoy it for years to come.
